Socks - an announcement.

I am loving the Two Left Feet blog. I mean, really loving it. I love knitted socks, sock yarn is my favourite weight and the photo of that washing line still attracts my attention and makes me smile.

So Moogsmum and I came up with an idea. We'd like to do something like that too. Now personally, I am not even in the same league as Elizabeth and Pat, but I live in hope! So we have started a new club. We are going to knit a pair of socks every month for the next, ooh, I don't know, until we run out of either patterns or yarn I suppose (neither of which is very likely to be honest!)

We decide on a pattern - a free one from Ravelry, choose our yarn and start knitting. It does not matter when we start knitting, but we must aim to be finished by the last day of the month. But we get a bit longer for this first project to enable us to get our sock mojo into gear. And of course to let anyone else come out of Internet land and join us.

So may I present you with our first Sock Project. Polly Jean. It's a Ravelry link. What do you think? Anyone else up for the challenge? If you only want to join us for one pattern (or even one sock, Locket!) then that's fine by us.

Go on, someone be brave and commit!

I really wanted to knit these, but Mrs Moog said no. I had a bit of a sulk but then realised she was probably right.

Michaela, aw come on, knit the Kaffe Fassett socks! By Easter!!

Don't know what says you're not in our league -- I've been reading your blog for a couple of years now, seeing lovely sock after lovely sock. . . will be following you attentively.

That has to be one of the nicest compliments I've ever received. I know you can do it, just keep knitting!

I am usually a Stash Basket Club joiner; however, this time I am going to have to set my own guidelines...I will join your party but rather than knit this pattern, I am going to use this first month to complete the pair of socks I started for my sister last April. Fair enough?

Well if teh rules are stretchy enough to accomodate ONE sock a month (given I have only just completed the pair I began last May) then yep! I'm in.

Wonderwoman - don't be so wet, come on you can do it. Just get a round needle!

So tempted to join in, so utterly convinced I'd fail. Seriously, I'm lucky to do two pairs per year.

Will there be public floggings if we don't keep up? Can I try for a month and stop if it's a disaster?! Actually, I have to first finish the sock I'm working on - don't you start spreading startitis down here, m'dear!

Oooh please can I join, love the pattern and just the thing I need to make me get a hurry up with them. Although I could do with a month dedicated to getting some of the ones on the needles already finished! As long as I have spare needles I can happily add more projects to the list!

Not this time, but maybe next month!

Even though I have other things to do, I am really very tempted by this...
When is it these have to be finished?

Are you completely insane woman?!

After my long discussions and negotiations with Missus Moogs I was beginning to think that I might possibly be able to half-join by only knitting half a pair a month - you know I'm a severe-second-sock-syndrome-sufferer, but then I read the pattern................

It has a chart!

And clever stitches!

I CAN'T DO THAT!

Can I knit an ornery sock instead?

We can definately knit the Kaffe socks - with all the leftovers from these gazillion socks we're gonna knit!!

I was off to a flying start last night and got both cuffs done but have now ground to a halt thanks to 'doing recycling' with 90 five year olds all day today and now relaxing with a very large glass of wine!

As for those self doubters out there - don't worry, it's just knits and purls with a bit of a twist :)
