WIP Week - Day 3

Day three brings another sock which has been on the needles for a very long time - high time it was done (yet again have the second one to do). Not sure how much I'll get done of this today though as I have a cake to decorate tonight and a pile of ironing to attack.

I've been on a Food Hygiene course today. With all the new rules and regulations, it makes you wonder how we ever survived before anti-bacterial sprays were invented. Surely this is all a vicious circle - we use more anti-bac stuff, the bacteria become more resistant, so we have to use stronger anti-bac stuff. Surely if we had just left well alone we'd not be in the mess we're in now would we?

Interesting looking sock pattern--which stitch pattern is it? I'm with you on the hygiene thing. We might actually be a better off if we were slightly less clean. Not only do strong germicidal products eventually leave us with stronger bacteria, our immune systems are strengthed by exposure to and fighting off weaker bacteria. It is the elderly and very young who are most vulnerable. Having said, that, I admit I'm pretty fanatical about handwashing.

I too have recently completed that course, did you know you have to make sure meat is cooked properly??? And NOT rub raw egg all over uncooked chicken and then serve it as a salad? Amazing.

Anonymous, I too am all over the handwashing but very rarely use antibacs.
