Sensible Cake

I don't often do sensible cakes. For some strange reason I seem to have got myself a name for doing silly cakes with crazy people on. But once in a while it's nice to reacquaint (what a strange word, but apparently spell check says it's right) myself with the more formal skills of cake decorating. I'm far happier doing little people, flowers take far too long, and damp weather like we're having at the moment can ruin them.

I had a lovely e-mail from Merry Mog the other day (she's really called Maureen, but Merry Mog sounds great I think!) Anyway, apparently I've given her mojo back - she gave me a lovely big picture to put on the blog, but I can't remember how to do that. Merry has now started crafting again in a big way, knitting and sewing and baking... It sounds a veritable hive of activity at her house, and I'll bet with all that baking going on, it smells pretty good too!

Thank-you Merry, but I really didn't know I had your mojo in the first place.

This cake is just beautiful and I could just sit for a while and take in the beauty of those flowers, they truly are a work of art.
Thank you so much for the felted blanket tutorial, I am going to attempt one for my M.I.L.s birthday, so no pressure then.

Well I think that having located Merry Mog's mojo is only right that you should have given it back to her. Pray tell... where do you hide such a thing? Is there a special spot in the stash basket for it? Or is it wrapped in plastic down the back of the couch?

Catching up at last! Your blanket tutorial was great! Love the lemon meringue pie and the tipsy cake and your mum's jumper is fabulous! The sensible cake is incredible but you do seem to me to have a natural tendency towards the wacky! And as for Merry Mog's mojo - I think it is only right and proper that you give it back to her forthwith!

How can it be possible that I'd forgotten you are such a talented "gardener"?! THIS cake is taking over as #1 on my fav list: )

ps: please tell me that the birthday girl kept the flowers as a momento - can't bear the thought of anyone crunching through them!
