What went wrong?

When I first got my new kitchen just over a year ago, I vowed to keep it so tidy, not even Mr Stressy could have cause for complaint. It would always look like this. No clutter. Nothing out of its place. Clean open space in which to bake and be the Domestic Goddess to which I strive.

Ah. This was my kitchen this afternoon. Needless to say, Mr Stressy was not coming home tonight!!!!! He would have completely done his nut had he seen this! In all fairness, I am in the middle of baking here and I do like to have everything out when I'm using it. (Does anyone out there use, say, flour, then put it away, then get the sugar out and use that then put it away? Is there such a thing as a tidy cook?)

I have now tidied up. The washing up remains unwashed, but at least the work top is clear.

Well, clear apart from 2 cooling racks with this on...

... and this...

Anyone want a piece?

I have to say your kitchen looks perfectly normal to me... that's what I call tidy! And yes please... I'd love a piece of cake as someone just ate the last slice here....

Crikey Michaela! If that's what you call messy then I will never, ever be able to invite you to Locketland!

That's what my kitchen looks like when I've blitzed it!

P.S. two slices for me please!

That's some kind of spick and span catalogue kitchen if you ask me. Lawks Michaela, I could show you some horrors at my house!

The answer is yes, can I have a piece of each please - and it's not even Saturday!

Yes please it looks delicious. No I don't think there is a tidy cook. Our kitchen looks about the same when we do any cooking.

Holy Moly ... I hope Mr Stressy never catches sight of our kitchen. He'd have kittens. Yes, it's perfectly normal to make a mess whilst you're cooking. Crikey, if you don't make a mess, I don't think you're doing it properly!

PS Yes please on the cakes!

Nope, no such thing as a tidy cook - not in our house at least! I don't think our Kitchen has ever looked like your first pic - not even when we moved in! Yours looks pretty normal for a baking session if you ask me. I'm always having to balance my cooling rack on top of other things as there's no worktop space left! Yes, please, the cake looks delicious....

I defy anyone not to make some mess whilst baking delicious cake! I must admit though if I'm making several different types of cake I do need to put one lot of ingredients away before starting on the next and I wash up between each (not enough bowls etc) perhaps that's why it takes me all afternoon lol. I'll take a piece of the plain cake please, as I've given up chocolate for Lent (roll on Easter Sunday!!).

I'm sure Mr Stressy and Hubby must be twins! That working kitchen of yours is just like mine...but if hubby could choose(if he was at home more often)it would look like your first pic...
Yes please, I'd love a piece of cake!!! Or two...

Mmmmmm...is that second one lemon? It looks yummy.

My kitchen pretty much always looks like that, well, not quite like that because yours is actually lovely underneath the baking-in-progress and mine is brown and hideous (one of 2 rooms in the house still on the re-decoration itinerary).

I want cake now!

I really hope he appreciates the results.. or is he too focused on the look of the kitchen to do that?
