Youngest son has gone on a sleep-over today, leaving just me and eldest son on our own in the house. An earlier conversation went along the lines of this:-
Me - What do you want for pudding tonight
Him - Don't mind
Me - Well you choose, we're on our own tonight, so I'll make something that you really like
Him - Ummm
Me - What's your favourite pudding that you've not had for ages
Him - tick, tick tick - you could almost hear the brain working
Me - I've got all day to make you whatever you want. Anything.
Him - Jelly
Me - Oh, will that be with ice cream or without
Him - Without thanks
So, dear readers, I am not going to show you a picture of today's pudding. It is not worth the effort involved in taking the camera out of its case. It has made me wonder though, why on earth do I bother slaving away in the kitchen at times when his favourite pudding in the world is b***** jelly.
But looking on the bright side, it left me plenty of time to just laze about the house knitting, making marmalade and chatting to the neighbours!

LOL. It's the same as when you spent a fortune on toys and they spend 3 days playing in the box the new cooker came in. They may protest otherwise but ultimately kids like the simple things in life :)

Whatever else I make when the family come over - sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren always say.... and raspberry jelly! There are individual favourites but to please them all it's the jelly!
Oooh jelly! Was it orange???? My favourite! I never make jelly for the children - perhaps I should start now because I love it too!

Jelly? If it helps at all he may not love it when he is bigger. I may be talking from experience, I wouldn't like to say ;-)
mine are fairly grown up but they love it when granma comes for tea and brings jelly!! the bowl is empty in no time!!

I trust that someone with your culinary expertise creates jelly from raw ingredients, rather than simply opening a packet.

Aww bless! I know the feeling....my lot always compliment me on my oven chips and fried egg but if I produce something wholesome and healthy (and tasty!) not a word!!!
